Benjarong Restaurant gets its name from Thailand’s beautiful historic ceramic ware. Benjarong, meaning ‘ five colors’, refers to the five-colored over glaze decorated ceramic ware used at court and by the Bangkok elite during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. They were made in china specifically for the Thai market and King Rama I (1784 -1809) sent artists to China to assist in their design.

Benjarong offers exceptional Thai cuisine with a balance of flavors, textures, colors and cooking methods, such as steaming, grilling or frying. Ideally a Thai meal will offer a combination of flavors: hot, sweet, sour, salty and bitter. While in some dishes one flavor may predominate, many dishes rely on a blending of flavors to achieve their distinctive taste. In order to achieve the desired balanced, each meal usually consists of a variety of dishes, and most often there will be a soup of some kind, a curry, a steam dish, a fried dish, a salad and dipping sauces for customizing the taste at the table.
